Deserved tribute to Squadron Leader NJIENGA Pierre: Regional Delegate of ONACAM in the West

He is no more, this valiant fighter and worthy son of the Haut Nkam region, the retired Squadron Leader NJIENGA Pierre bowed out at the age of 88 years, on May 02, 2021 in Bandjoun following a short illness. The nation, grateful for his good and loyal services both in activity and in retirement as Regional Delegate of ONACAM of the West, paid him a vibrant tribute to celebrate his life in synergy with all those who knew and loved him.

A pioneer of the Cameroonian army has gone. Major NJIENGA will no longer be with us but will remain in our hearts. The great family of the Veterans bid him farewell during a burial ceremony organized on July 10, 2021 in Babone, the village where he was born on July 8, 1933. The month of July will have been his month of birth and burial. A coincidence that immediately attracts attention. The Director General of ONACAM was represented by the Deputy Director General, the retired Battalion Chief OSSONGO ADAH Jean Léonard accompanied by a delegation of staff from the Central Services of the Office as well as members of ONACAM from the Western Region.

Born on July 8, 1933 in Baboné, the illustrious departed did his studies in Bafang before moving to Yaoundé where a career as a professional footballer awaited him. Talented, he was selected in one of the soccer teams of the capital city "Diamant de Yaoundé" where his fans nicknamed him "Petit Pierre", a nickname that earned him flowers and will remain engraved on his identity. He will then be part of the national soccer team of Cameroon before Independence. At the time, this team was called the military team of Cameroon.

In 1954, he joined the French Army and was transferred to the Cameroonian Guard. In 1960, he was part of the first promotion of the Inter-Arms Military School of Cameroon (EMIAC). This class was named "Independence Class". Upon graduation, he was assigned to the National Gendarmerie where he served with "Honor and Fidelity" for thirty-eight (38) years.

In 1992, he was admitted to retirement with the rank of Squadron Leader. During this period of inactivity, he will not be idle; he will convert to entrepreneurship by creating a security company called "TFAZ Plus Sarl".

A member of the National Office for Veterans, Former Military Personnel and Victims of War of Cameroon (ONACAM) since his retirement, he became the Regional Delegate of ONACAM for the Western Region. Assembler, experienced worker, committed and brilliant speaker, he will revitalize this branch to the great satisfaction of his hierarchy. Available and always pro-active, he was able to restore the image of the Veteran.

It emerges from the various testimonies made on this occasion, that the Squadron Leader ® NJIENGA will have been in substance a model for the young generation, a landmark, a hero, a tireless worker who gave everything to posterity.

In his funeral oration, the Deputy Director General will portray the deceased as a retired officer of great achievement; the one who gave his youth to safeguard the Institutions as well as those who embody them during his entire period of activity. He served his country with honor and fidelity. Always ready to serve, he will put his qualities, his knowledge and his experience at the service of the Veterans of the Western Region. As Regional Delegate of ONACAM in the West, he will have been of a proven support to the policy of recognition of the often ignored work of the veteran; that aiming at making him, "a hero of the nation". The Cameroonian Combatant world has lost an officer of great value who knew how to revalue the honor due to the Veterans in the western region.

Military honors were paid to him in the height of the illustrious departed. "To great men, the grateful Fatherland". As the saying goes, "to any lord, any honor". Squadron Leader ® NJIENGA Pierre leaves behind him a large inconsolable biological family as well as a military family whose memory will remain forever engraved in our hearts. He now rests with his ancestors. May the Almighty welcome him into heavenly happiness and grant him eternal rest.

Farewell Commander, farewell Delegate, farewell Little Pierre; your image will never leave us.
