The missions of ONACAM

The ONACAM has as its regalian mission to watch over the material and moral interests of ex-servicemen, ex-military personnel and victims of war of Cameroonian nationality who served either in the national armed forces or in foreign armed forces, as a result of institutions prior to independence, or as a result of special agreements.

In addition, the Office :
  • Provides social assistance to members in the form of emergency and exceptional aid or assistance on request (reimbursement of medical expenses, material or financial aid, assistance to widows and minor orphans);
  • Promotes itself both nationally and internationally;
  • Serves as an interface between the Public Administrations and its members (administrative assistance for pensions and other rights) Likewise, between citizens who served in the Foreign Armed Forces and the representatives of the governments of the countries under which they served, in order to guarantee their rights;
  • Manages the file of veterans, retired soldiers and victims of war as well as its assets;
  • Encourages retired soldiers to reintegrate into active life.

Perstectives for the future

ONACAM, which is increasingly open to the outside world in search of various national and international partnerships, wishes to offer its population services likely to improve their living conditions such as

  • Low-cost care in public hospitals and health centres;
  • Training in income-generating occupations;
  • Fitting of orthopaedic devices and professional rehabilitation;
  • Support in finding reserved jobs;
  • Improvement of their living environment;
  • Provision of a doctor specialising in geriatrics.

In general, continuous research is directed towards targeted and appropriate action, with a view to providing members with favourable conditions to enable them to face life's problems with dignity, after many years spent in the armed forces.
