ONACAM at the fiftieth anniversary festivities in Yaoundé

  • 30/11/2016
It is with a cadenced step to the rhythm of the music of the National Security and under the command of the battalion chief ® MBASSI Daniel, also Regional Delegate of the Center, that the detachment of ONACAM composed of the flag and its guard, and a square of veterans and former soldiers, marked its passage in front of the podium of honor, at the Boulevard du 20 Mai, on May 20, 2010, following the Presidential Guard, the Joint Military School

the National Gendarmerie, the Army, the Air Force, the National Navy, the National Fire Brigade, the National Security, the Penitentiary Administration and the Customs Administration, respectively.

Under a shower of applause, the members of ONACAM who proudly wore their beautiful KAKI uniforms closed the imposing military parade of the troops on foot presided over by His Excellency Paul BIYA, President of the Republic, Head of the Armed Forces, visibly satisfied, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Chantal BIYA.

The celebration of the 38th Edition of the Unitary State coincided this year with the festivities organized for the fiftieth anniversary of independence and reunification.

The scale of such an event explains the participation, in Yaoundé today, of an impressive array of personalities among whom one could see many Heads of State and special guests who came to enhance with their presence the events organized for this purpose and whose highlight, at the Boulevard du 20 Mai, was marked with solemnity.

Previously and as a prelude to the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary, activities of all kinds have been scheduled and their developments have extended to the entire national territory giving so much to the national and foreign media.

ONACAM did not remain on the sidelines of the requests of media men, deployed in the field, and especially in this period relating to the remembrance of the struggle and other sacrifices of our fellow citizens, few in number today, who lived through the exalting hours of independence in 1960. The Office, through the voice of its Director General, Colonel Alfred FULLER, responded to the concerns of journalists on the programme "HONOUR AND TRUST", a segment of the National Radio and Television Station of the Cameroon Radio and Television Company (CRTV) broadcast every Saturday between 2 and 3 p.m. and essentially reserved for the Defence Forces, with the following questions

  1. At a time when Cameroon is commemorating the 38th anniversary of its National Unity, which coincides with the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of independence, how have the changes undergone by the structure you are leading today evolved? ;
  2. With reference to the guiding theme "Defence Forces and the Nation, together for the consolidation of the achievements of the fiftieth anniversary" chosen for the occasion of 20 May 2010, in what way does ONACAM consolidate its achievements of the fiftieth anniversary with the Nation ?
