The Cameroonian veterans' brass band

On the instructions of the Director General of ONACAM Colonel ® Alfred FULLER, the embryo of the Fanfare of Veterans is born in April 2016 under the technical direction of the retired Staff Sergeant LEUKAM Pierre Mozart who will have found the idea great because it would be a great first. Thus, he will bring together some retired musicians of the army band such as Chief Warrant Officer NTALLA Daniel to name but one. Several other non-commissioned officers musicians will take part in this beautiful adventure which will give birth to the Fanfare of the Veterans of Cameroon.

Over the years, this young musical formation will start to grow with new volunteers retired from the musical formations of the Defense Forces, completed by young descendants of military with skills in the musical art.

In a simple organization, it will be composed of a Harmony and a Battery. As established by the Director General of the ONACAM, their missions will be defined as follows

  • To give a particular brilliance to the ceremonies organized by the ONACAM's General Management;
  • To animate, upon request and for a modest contribution, the civil-military events for which it is requested;
  • To bring on request its musical contribution to the demonstrations organized by the governmental Authorities related to the life of the nation;
  • To enhance the brilliance of funeral ceremonies organized by civilian third parties.

This Fanfare will make its official appearance on December 15, 2016 where it will be requested by His Excellency the Cameroonian Minister in charge of Defense to animate the 15th Meeting of the Permanent Commission on African Affairs (CPAA) of the World Veterans Federation at the Hotel "La Falaise" in Yaoundé, under the High Patronage of His Excellency Mr. The President of the Republic and under the Presidency of the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense.

At the opening ceremony of this gathering of the African fighting world, presided over by Mr. Secretary of State for Defense in charge of Veterans representing the Minister of Defense, this musical group of Cameroonian Veterans performed with panache under the amazed eyes of the Secretary of State for Defense, some members of the Government, members of the diplomatic corps invited, the President of the World Veterans Federation Mr. Dan-Viggo BERGTUN, General Officers, senior officials of the Ministry of Defense and various delegations of African Veterans. Raising from time to time bursts of applause, this Fanfare has restored the image of the Cameroonian Veteran. All the invited personalities appreciated the technicality and the dexterity of this young musical formation. It was a real treat.

Since then, this Fanfare has improved to the point of becoming the star of the Cohesion meals organized by the General Management of ONACAM. In spite of this success, it is necessary to note that it suffers from a crying lack of instruments; what obliges the General Director of ONACAM to resort to the hiring from time to time. Most of the instruments used in this Fanfare are the property of the musicians. The economic situation being difficult, the means of the Office do not yet allow it to complete the missing instruments. The ONACAM leaders hope to be able to cope with this once the economic situation has improved.

In spite of this situation of situation, it does nothing but to establish its notoriety through services and animations. Today, it is the pride of the fighting world in Cameroon.

From now on, the services offered by this musical formation are open to the general public, in particular to those who want to give a splendor to the happy or unhappy events which they organize. To have access to it, you just have to approach the General Direction of ONACAM where the formalities will be given to you, provided with a request for hiring the Fanfare in due form.

We are convinced that you will not regret it because our duty is to give you satisfaction in a carnival atmosphere.
